Drug-related infectious diseases in Europe: update from the EMCDDA expert network (PDF)

This report provides an update on infectious diseases related to injecting drug use in Europe. It covers both the EMCDDA Drug-related infectious diseases indicator, which collects data on the situation, and the responses in the area. The report is based on the indicator’s annual expert meeting, held in Lisbon in June 2016, which brought together national experts from the 28 EU Member States, Norway and Turkey (EMCDDA)

Advancing drug policy reform: a new approach to decriminalization

The Report concluded that the governments of the ASEAN Member States need a more holistic approach to overcome the challenges posed by illicit drug trafficking. The Report underlined the importance for the ASEAN’s drug agencies and authorities to evolve from a one-dimensional control approach to multi-dimensional management approaches

UNAIDS warns that after significant reductions, declines in new HIV infections among adults have stalled and are rising in some regions

Globally, new HIV infections among adults and children were reduced by 40% since the peak in 1997. However, new analysis from UNAIDS shows that new HIV infections among adults have stalled, failing to decline for at least five years. Information exchange, risk assessment and control of new psychoactive substances (PDF)

EMCDDA–Europol Joint Report on acetylfentanyl

In September 2015, the EMCDDA and Europol examined the available information on a new psychoactive substance N-phenyl-N-[1-(2-phenylethyl)piperidin-4-yl]acetamide (acetylfentanyl), through a joint assessment. The two organisations concluded that sufficient information had been accumulated to merit the production of a Joint Report on acetylfentanyl as stipulated by Article 5.1 of the Council Decision
